Verdict from VW Germany
Sent an mail to VW Denmark
What is this all about?
Well, in November 2010, I bought a brand new Volkswagen Touran (model 2011). Not long time after I bought the car, I started noticing the strange behaviour when it would shift gears. This was my first DSG car, manual transmission with automatic gear changing; So I didn’t know what to expect and it was snowy so I contributed the behaviour to slippery surface.
When in lower gears and at low RPM’s there would be shaky and jerky behaviour So, as I mentioned above, I thought it might be snow/ice and ESP system that tried to keep the car stable. This has happened few times in the winter months while roads are covered with snow. So I didn’t think much of it.Continue reading
Dual clutch + Flywheel
Car has been in the garage for the last 3 weeks while they investigate what is wrong with the car. I am given another car to drive around for no extra charge, which is good. I called to hear about progress of troubleshooting and was told that they are in dialog with Germany and their technical staff. They are sending them measurements and test results and what not. Germans have sent them new dual clutches and flywheel, that are suppose to be revised parts. But after they have replaced the parts, again; Problem is still present.
So now, I am still waiting for my car, while they are recording video and audio of the engine and gearbox to send to Germany.
Nothing but problems … still…
So, just few days after the latest replacement of the dual clutches, the car was again, shaky, but no noise this point. I needed to go on vacation again, so dealership booked a time for me after the vacation, to look at the car again. While on vacation, noise started to represent itself as well. So the same problem as in previous complaints.

Machatronic unit replacement
While I had the car for replacement of dual clutches, dealership where I bought the car, called me in and says that they were given green light to replace mechatronic unit on my car. So now the mechatronic is being replaced as well. There is not much else, left in regard to gearbox to be replaced. Problem is still there. Jerky/shaky and uneven gear shifting.
Dual Clutch replacment
After I’ve gotten Flywheel replaced, car was running as a dream for a longest time ever. But lately, it started to show the early symptoms of the previous issues. Noise, uneven ride and gear changing etc. So they decided it could be time for replacement of dual clutch for DSG7. Complaint about shaky ride, uneven and inconsistent changing of gear.

Complaint (3) Noise is back
So, the noise is back, although very settle, but it’s there nonetheless. Went to dealership to let them know, about it. And they were puzzled. They did some diagnostics, but no errors showed up. They decided to update software in mechatronic unit and in the engine/on-board computer. Not much changed. But told me that they have seen the problem before, and that flywheel replacement helped.
